In March 2023, Carnival Corporation (shipowner) sold the 14-year-old Seabourn Odyssey to the Japanese shipping company MOL (Mitsui OSK Lines Ltd). Along with the sale, Seabourn signed a time-charter arrangement with MOL that allowed the company to operate Odyssey's voyages scheduled thru October 11, 2024. Seabourn comes with a price tag and an expectation of 5 star luxury, sadly in our opinion it has dropped to 4! The attention to detail is gone, the personal touch no more, very average wines included in the price, this has changed from our first cruise with Seabourn.
Seabourn Encore Review
Focused on personalized service, the line has designed unique programs like Caviar in the Surf and Shopping With the Chef, to further enhance onboard experience. Still, unlike many expedition ships, Seabourn Pursuit and Seabourn Venture are luxurious vessels, with many of the upscale venues and amenities found on Seabourn's bigger, more traditional luxury ships. The deck where the sushi restaurant and large Thomas Keller restaurant are located on the Encore-class ships is the deck that is missing on the Odyssey-class ships. Unique to this class of ships is Sushi, a dedicated sushi restaurant with just 30 seats. Tucked away in a corner off a central stairway, it's a hidden gem offering lovely and innovative sushi and sashimi plates at night. During the day, it serves disassembled "bento boxes" with cooked entrees such as miso salmon and teriyaki chicken — the latter arriving with miso soup and small dishes of salad, rice and oshinko.
Sail of the Year
Seabourn company also features the Ventures by Seabourn program, where you can join optional excursions, such as hiking, biking, and kayaking, led by experts and naturalists. Enjoy the sun, sand, and sea of the Caribbean, where you can visit the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, St. Lucia, Barbados, and more. Seabourn offers a relaxing and fun-filled experience, with activities such as swimming, sailing, golfing, and shopping. Seabourn also hosts special events, such as the Caviar in the Surf, where you can savor caviar and champagne on a private beach, and the Marina Day, where you can use the ship’s water sports equipment, such as kayaks, paddle boards, and banana boats. Seabourn has received numerous awards and accolades from various travel publications and organizations, such as Travel + Leisure, Condé Nast Traveler, Cruise Critic, and others.

You may want to compare the size, the design, the amenities, and the services of each ship. Seabourn offers various types of suites, such as the Ocean View Suite, the Veranda Suite, the Penthouse Suite, and the Owner’s Suite. You may want to compare the space, the view, the furnishings, and the perks of each suite. The abundance of public space makes passengers feel as if they have the vessel to themselves - no annoying lines or crowds here. Seabourn cruise ship passengers may choose to dine when and where they want on any of the luxurious ships of the line. Each dining venue offers a different atmosphere and different dishes, but all use innovative cooking techniques and perfect ingredients like Black River Ossetra Caviar.
Seabourn Encore
That number is set to drop by one in 2024 when one of the Odyssey-class vessels leaves the Seabourn fleet. One of the advantages of traveling with Seabourn is that you can explore a wide range of destinations, from exotic and remote locations to popular and iconic ones. Seabourn’s ships are designed to access ports that larger ships cannot, allowing you to discover hidden gems and off-the-beaten-path places.

The less expensive ones were not worth doing and the more expensive trips involved long hours in very average coaches. Carnival Corp. bought the company outright in 2001 and Seabourn became one of its "world's leading cruise lines." Carnival's Cunard operations separated from Seabourn's in 2004, and Seabourn operated independently from other Carnival Corp. brands. On February 21, 2023, Seabourn signed a multi-year ship charter agreement/exclusive partnership with APT Travel Group (Australian Pacific Touring) for chartering two ships (Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit). APT expedition cruises were scheduled for 2025 with a deployment in Northern Europe (UK, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Greenland), Australia/Kimberley, and Antarctica in 2025. The charter deal was signed by Natalya Leahy (Seabourn) and David Cox (APT's CEO).
Carnival Corporation's recent financial maneuvers included shedding its least profitable ships, cutting service on remaining ships and increasing fees for shipboard services in an effort to cut costs and boost revenue. The departure of Seabourn Odyssey will represent a significant downsizing for the Seabourn brand, which is considered one of the leaders in luxury cruising. Apart from the cozier aspects of the ship, including fur-backed lounge chairs near a bar where glacier ice is chipped for Old Fashioneds, these safari guides at sea shine like an iceberg on a sunny day. Subsequently, beginning in September, Seabourn Sojourn, boasting 225 cabins, embarks on a series of fall foliage cruises between Montreal and New York.
The spacious room is also home to a circular concierge area at its center where staff can help you book activities, and a guest services desk and a desk where you can book future cruises. Our fleet allows us to offer the award-winning Seabourn experience to more travelers, in more unique regions than ever before. We would be honored to welcome you to your ultra-luxury home away from home on your next journey.
John Barron and Handré Potgieter, who were part of the original onboard team when the ship launched in 2009, will return as cruise directors for Seabourn Odyssey’s final voyage. In addition, Seabourn President Natalya Leahy will be onboard in Seattle to personally wish farewell to guests and the onboard team as they set sail on this voyage. Seabourn Pride was the first to go in 2014, with Seabourn Legend and Spirit making their exits in 2015. In late 2016, 600-passenger Seabourn Encore -- a new-build based on a slightly modified version of the Odyssey-class design -- took to the seas. Decor-wise, the Encore-class ships have a more yacht-like look than the older Odyssey-class vessels, with interiors created from top-to-bottom by well-known hospitality designer Adam Tihany. Tihany didn't work on the earlier vessels, which have a more Nordic-style sleekness.
